Teresa Villaverde
Ever since Teresa VILLAVERDE (1966, Portugal) had a supporting role in João César Monteiro’s A flor do mar (1986), she has regularly worked on Portuguese film productions, for instance as editing assistant with José Alvaro Morais and Rosa Coutinho Cabral and as scriptwriter with Morais and João Canijo. She preferred this self-taught way into the film world to a stint at film school. She made her debut as a director with the much-lauded A idade mai or (1991). Villaverde’s film Os mutantes was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival.
