Riccardo Milani

Riccardo MILANI (1958, Italy) is an Italian film and television director and screenwriter born in Rome. He began his career as an assistant director in the mid-1980s, working with filmmakers including Mario Monicelli, Nanni Moretti, Florestano Vancini and Daniele Luchetti. Milani made his feature film debut with the comedy-drama Auguri professore (1994) and later expanded into television, directing the miniseries Il sequestro Soffiantini (2001). Over the years, he has developed a body of work characterised by a strong engagement with social themes and popular storytelling. His latest film Life is Life (2025) opened the 20th Rome Film Festival and screens at IFFR 2026.
