Rainer Kohlberger

Rainer KOHLBERGER (1982, Austria) is a Berlin-based visual artist, designer and filmmaker. His work is primarily based on algorithmically generated graphics that are exposed in live performances, experimental films and installations. His abstract audiovisual work field won the ZKM App Art Award for artistic innovation in 2011. In 2013, he won the Crossing Europe Local Artist Award for his video Humming, Fast and Slow (2013). Kohlberger’s short film not even nothing can be free of ghosts (2016) was selected for the Ammodo Tiger Short Competition at IFFR 2016. His experimental film Answering the Sun, a world premiere at IFFR 2022, was also nominated for a Tiger Short Award. With The Electric Kiss (2024) he joins IFFR for the fifth time.
