Orlando Lübbert

After studying architecture, Orlando LÜBBERT (1945, Chile) started working in the Chilean film industry as assistant to Patricio GUZMÁN. In the ’70s, he migrated to Berlin, where he made films and taught at the Open University. In 1995, he returned to Chile. Lübbert’s feature film Taxi Para Tres (2001) awarded him great public and critical acknowledgement, he won 30 awards both in Chile and abroad, the most important being the Golden Shell for best film at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain. In his late career, he turned towards teaching, educating students at many universities: the Film School of the University of Mexico (CUEC), the Free University of Berlin, the Film School of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) in Cuba, the Film School of Chile and the University of Santiago de Chile.
