Juan Forch

Juan FORCH (1948, Chile) is a Chilean director and poet. After the coup d’état in 1973 he was exiled from Child to East Germany . He worked at the Pentacon factory and then joined the DEFA Studio for Animation Films in Dresden where he learned the craft of animation. In his short films, he uses animation and documentary to make his political experiences as an exile visible. During his career Forch has collaborated with several artists, such as Lutz Dammbeck, Rolf Hofmann and Jörg Herrmann. Forch’s trick collage Hitlerpinochet (1975) is part of the official selection for IFFR Focus: Chile in the Heart.
