Joanna Priestley

Joanna PRIESTLEY (1950, USA) is an American director, producer, animator and teacher, recognised as a leading figure in independent animation. Her work is held in the collections of the Academy Film Archive in Los Angeles and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Priestley received an MFA in Experimental Animation from the California Institute of the Arts, where she was awarded the Louis B. Mayer Award. In 1985 she founded Priestley Motion Pictures and has since directed, produced or animated more than 30 short films. Her short North of Blue (2018) premiered at the Annecy International Animation Festival and won multiple awards, including Best Experimental Film at the Indie Film Awards.
