Aay Liparoto
Aay LIPAROTO (1987, USA) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Brussels, who traverses the boundaries of intimacy and bureaucracy. In their solo and collaborative practice Liparoto uses repetitive performative acts and creates scenarios along with workshops, videos and text to audiovisually unpick these everyday life relationships. Small Acts of Violence, selected for the IFFR 2024 Art Directions programme, was developed during a residency at MORPHO, Antwerp and produced by ARGOS (Brussels). The work is a haptic 360° cinematic virtual reality installation based on research on the perpetration of non-consensual violence by women, non-binary and non-cis men in intimate relationships.
