The Stopover
While travelling from Kinshasa to Frankfurt, filmmakers Paul Shemisi and Nizar Saleh are illegally detained at a detention centre while transiting in Luanda, Angola on the false accusation of carrying falsified documents. Juxtaposing peaceful aerial views from an airplane window with the filmmakers’ testimonies about their detention, L’escale underscores the perilous nature of international travel for Congolese artists.
