Wind, Talk to Me
Vetre, pričaj sa mnom
Stefan Djordjevic originally planned to make a film about his ailing mother, but following her death he shifted focus to encompass his whole family with this profoundly moving first feature, which sees him return home to the warm embrace of his loved ones.
Returning to his family home to celebrate his grandmother’s 80th birthday, Stefan Djordjevic reflects on the trajectory of his life. His plans to create a film about his mother were cut short by her passing, a loss that also brought an end to his relationship. Back in the countryside, surrounded by the familiarity of his roots, Stefan finds a quiet solace in the rhythms of home.
Initially envisioned as an autobiographical documentary about his mother, Wind, Talk to Me transformed into something deeply different after her death. Djordjevic crafts an intimate and profoundly personal meditation on grief, capturing resilience and vulnerability with an authenticity that avoids sentimentality or artifice. While the film pays tribute to his mother’s presence within the family, it extends beyond remembrance, exploring the connections that tether us to one another and to the natural world.
True to its title, the film finds poetry in the interplay between human lives and the cycles of nature, echoing his mother’s words: “The wind brings wishes to life.” With restraint and clarity, Djordjevic offers a delicate reflection on existence, discovering joy in fleeting moments and small gestures, even as despair lingers. A tender, honest reminder of the power of film and memories in keeping our loved ones among us.
