By constantly recording his everyday life, Sebastiaan Verbeeten has constructed a tender coming-of-age story that plays like a radically earnest cine-memoir. While processing the passing of a close friend, his fragmented film project turns to his relationship with Pieta. Where at first the camera – nicknamed “the doge” – provides a space for reflection, it gradually creates a rift between the couple. Hyper personal, painfully intimate and existentially poignant, the resulting film explores the pains of a filmmaker that wants to capture every facet of his emotionally turbulent life.
