Known for their re-defining portrayals of complex female characters on big and small screens, Victoria Pedretti and Hanna van Vliet come together on the IFFR stage.
Shortly after graduating from Carnegie Mellon, Victoria Pedretti garnered international attention for her performance as Nell Crain in the 2018 Netflix original series The Haunting of Hill House. In 2019, she joined another hit Netflix original series – You – starring opposite Penn Badgley as Love Quinn. Whilst on the big screen Pedretti has appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) and Ava DuVernay’s Origin (2023) which had its world premiere at Venice.
Hanna van Vliet is an European Shooting Stars winner and a Golden Calf nominated actress and creator. She is the co-creator and lead in the internationally acclaimed Netflix drama series and film ANNE+ (2018). An advocate for a broad representation of female leads and queer characters in the media, van Vliet has starred in Quicksand (2021), television mini-series A Small Light (2023), and drama series Childhood Dreams(2023).
Pedretti and van Vliet will discuss their craft, the representation of women in the current international media landscape, and their roles, ranging from mainstream on-screen commercial successes to award-nominated stage performances.
