This Big Talk pairs the renowned, Greek-French director – also president of the Cinémathèque française – with Sungji Oh who, in her distinguished career as curator of the Korean Film Archive and managing director of the Werner Herzog Foundation, has been professionally concerned with another kind of mortality: the tenacious preservation, reconstitution and promotion of films themselves. What unites these two participants is their commitment to maintaining and highlighting cinematic patrimony – keeping film history alive in the present. Leading the conversation will be Frédéric Maire, director of the Cinémathèque Suisse and former president of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF).
