Two schoolgirls struggle to navigate the social media minefield in this Indonesian drama, delving into the dark side of life online. Seventeen year-old friends Lisa and Sarah hope to forge a career in the world of ASMR, but with their lives increasingly controlled by their screens they quickly discover their addiction has a downside. When one becomes fixated on porn and the other falls into a controlling relationship with an older man, the innocence of youth is dragged into an adult arena they are far from ready for. When events take a sinister turn, they must use the strength of their friendship to conquer the toxic world and take back control.
Celebrated filmmaker and screenwriter Gina S. Noer is behind the two biggest post-reformation hits at the Indonesian box office, Ayat-Ayat Cinta (2008) and Habibie and Ainun (2012). Her latest offering as a director is judicious and intelligent, appropriately handling its serious themes to present a gripping coming-of-age tale relevant for contemporary society.
