What’s in the bag is never revealed in this metaphorical VR noir. What is clear is that S, an ex-serviceman and now a bank security guard, takes it, killing his co-conspirators to have the loot for himself once the job is done. But which doors will the stolen goods open for him? And where do they lead – heaven or hell?
S’s world comes unhinged in this in many ways overwhelming, short VR experience. Maker Shao Qing’s tempo is merciless and optimum use is made of VR’s options for twisting your perception – he not only plays with your eyes and ears, but also with your sense of balance. This unique combination of computer animation and hand-painted textures underscore the audience’s own good or bad instincts and how hard it is to let go of these.
