Photographer Mika and music producer Tesfay prove to be each other’s first great loves. With their talents, her blonde hair and his black dreads, they are a beautiful couple that fits in perfectly in today’s Sweden. After a period of courtship, parties, sex and getting to know each other, they decide to live together. For the outside world, this hip couple presents an ideal picture, but behind those beautiful filters things start going wrong between the sheets. How do you express your feelings of shame and complicated inner conflicts to the other?

The Heart is a fresh, contemporary feature debut with one of the leading roles performed by the maker herself, who has also acted in Turist by Ruben Östlund. In different chapters, the development of a relationship is filmed close, accompanied by a lively soundtrack filled with dance music and hip-hop in both English and Swedish. A portrait of a new generation of young adults wrestling with intimacy, sexuality and great expectations.
