Aldeia dos Rapazes – Orfanato Sta. Isabel de Albarraque
Virgínia shot her short documentary on an orphanage the same year as her first long film. The camera – eye level with the children – expresses her solidarity with the latter, an exceptional perspective under Salazar’s rule. The adults are out of frame and the children have free reign.
