Respectable family man Reza is confronted by a series of biblical setbacks, as a result of which he loses his money, car
"In this country, you are oppressed or you are the oppressor", Reza learns. Rasoulof shows how a man who has always been on the right side of the law is gradually forced to change. Autobiographical elements also find their way into the film: like many of his colleagues, Rasoulof makes his films clandestinely, because the Iranian government has banned him from making films. With this film, that won the Un Certain Regard competition at Cannes, he sketches a depressing picture of corruption and oppression in Iran. Meanwhile, A Man of Integrity can still not be seen in that country.
