We, in the Year 2000
We, in the Year 2000 deconstructs a 1970s childhood propaganda song, which was written to ‘announce’ the prospect of a brighter socialist future in the year 2000. The film juxtaposes contemporary images of third-grade school children deciphering the lyrics of the song with Super-8 images of adults performing and commenting on the history of the composition.
