The music of Hanne Darboven (1941-2009), which is based on the conversion of calender dates into musical notes, inspired the filmmaker. Because the music was partly recorded at St. Peter’s Church (Hamburg), he made pictures of the church, processed frame by frame in a system of expanding cycles approaching infinity.
