Sweethearts (for Emmett Williams)

In the early sixties, concrete sound poet Emmett Williams (1925-2007) was the European coordinator of Fluxus and a founding member of the Domaine Poétique in Paris. His close friendship and collaboration with Robert Filliou resulted in many co-productions and co-inventions.
The key to this piece is translation, or rather mistranslation and misunderstanding. In his performance work (Lampert is also an archivist and programmer at Anthology Film Archives), the act of projecting plays a central role. Here, two women obey instructions in front of the projected letters A and B. The director has control over the letter C.
