De un vastisimo mar is the result of a working visit for two months in Montevideo and in the area of the Rio de la Plata. During this period, the film and sound material was recorded, and at the same time a small 16mm laboratory was established, which is the first lab of its kind in the region. What is shown here is a film in the making, in the real time of a film performance, about exile as a relationship. This exile is a way to fill space, a way to lie or to search for truth. The performance has the construction of a story as well as its doubts and the difficulty of finding a structure, possibly even the contingency of a failure. The purpose is also to show what is missing, a hole, a loss.
