Contrapuntal

Complex and yet light trilogy that is shown in the reverse order from which it was made. The street musician from the last part, Juha Kiwano, first provided the music, an energetic rhythm. This was arranged by the composer Olli Helsinki and the Helsinki chamber choir and sung in the middle part. In a desolate industrial landscape, the music seems to offer solace and unity. That led the singing saw player from the first part, Antti Halonen, to make a composition that he plays in the expanse of Finnish forests like a rural variation on Kurt Cobain. Until his timeless lyricism is disrupted by chainsaws and a spry group of passers-by. Contrapuntal was originally an installation.
