The interplay between light-dots and linear patterns is the central motif of Hans Schork. A continuous movement makes the surfaces change non-stop. Schork has etched a pattern of lines on the inside of a plate, behind which a disc revolves with other line-patterns and shapes. Behind that is a source of light. When the light pierces through both ‘obstacles’ we perceive beaming lines and dots. Besides his kinetic light sculptures, Schork produces ‘light paintings’ as well. Here the light takes the place of the paint brush on a sensitive surface, which is, in fact, a form of photography.
