This film is among the early work by Mendonça in which he chooses the horror genre: pursued by traumas from a previous crime, the culprit literally and metaphorically locks himself up in his own creative world. His fears penetrate (fictional) reality, which provides a confusing mixture of fantasy and film reality. The constant threat of danger keeps putting the viewer on the wrong track.
