The third film by Mendonça also falls within his ‘horror period’. The film is set in the apartment of a middle-class family in Recife. A mother gives her daughter a box of old gramophone records with children’s music. She can listen to anything apart from the green record! If she does, it will have tragic consequences. Green Vinyl is an adaptation of a Russian folk story and is told using an original montage of photographic stills and voice-over.
