Starting from Scratch: L’Abominable

Very many experimental film makers from France managed to find their way to the Paris suburb where the alternative film lab L’Abominable (www.l-abominable.org) can be found, entirely set up and run by artists. Here they can find the necessary facilities for artists and film makers to develop, process, edit and print their own Super8, 16mm and 35mm films.
L’Abominable is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. From their extensive catalogue Starting from Scratch is showing two recent films by the duo Mahine Rouhi and Olivier Fouchard. Their films are refined studies into landscape and light, comprehensive yet also a small scale, filled with striking details. In addition, there are also characterised by the beautiful use of a wide range of intensive laboratory techniques, of which which they have a perfect command of and that make the films what they are: colourful and meditative.
