Digital Short Films by Three Filmmakers
Three films made at the initiative of the Korean Film Festival in Jeonju. An ambitious project that has already been running for six years in a row. The idea behind it was to offer great and talented Asian directors (Zhang Yuan in 2000, Tsai Ming-liang in 2001 and Wang Xiaoshuai in 2002) an opportunity to explore the possibilities of new film techniques with digital video. In the meantime, digital film making has been generally accepted, but fortunately Jeonju is continuing with its beautiful series. The film makers were each given the princely sum of 50 million won (about euro 42,000) and total freedom to make a film lasting about half an hour. At least two of the films made have now also been remade in a longer (but not necessarily better) version. This is the original, very strong trilogy. (GjZ)
