Many stories are told about Abu Uthman 'Amr ibn Bahr al-Kinani al-Fuqaimi al-Basri, the ninth-century Iraqi jack of all trades, better known as al-Jahiz. He was an essayist, teacher, scholar and historian and the undisputed master of the art of Arab prose. This film is based on the text by al-Jahiz, in which a dispute takes place between a lover of girls and a lover of boys. In the film, however, more voices and opinions are involved.
