A portrait of everyday life in La Pirata, a 'pulque' bar. Pulque is a Mexican slightly alcoholic cactus drink that threatens to disappear because of the shortage of cactuses. Once a national beverage, enjoying pulque threatens to become increasingly an elite pastime. This film is an ode to pulque, to the people who drink it, to ranchero music and the barrio.
