1857, the Australian Alps. Jess, a young black tracker, and his elderly sergeant discover the body of a gold miner. They track the killer, an old Aboriginal man, to a cabin on a barren plateau. Having lost their horse and with the sergeant in bad health, they are forced to shelter in the cabin. As Jess falls asleep he is visited in his dreams by the old Aboriginal man. On waking, Jess is forced to decide his fate. Will he choose his friend, the white sergeant, or follow his ancestral soul?
