Rasikan Re (literally: Oh lover of life) investigates the rhythm of modern urban Indian life. A woman finds a portfolio of paintings that takes her back in her thoughts to her childhood. The environment of the neighbours Madhu, a young girl, and Kendar, a man of 40, is sketched. But Madhu and Kendar are also names of Indian ragas, respectively a morning raga that is full of expectation and hope and a night raga that is much sterner. Rasikan Re is firmly founded in the Ragamala, a tradition in Indian painting that tries to visualise music.
