A celluloid archive with confessions from the archivist. Kate's Sole Excess is a quirky portrait of a woman obsessed and a glimpse into the consequences. A document of the archiving of a 76pair shoe collection, and the troubled reflections of its owner. The subject of the film, Katie Trainor, is a film archivist whose passion for film is matched by her fetish for shoes. The footage is organised like a catalogue and is presented in a style reminiscent of early photography.
