To reproduce an image, it needs to be reduced to elementary components, like a grid of dots, pixels or film frames. The distortions this entails are what interest Oorebeek and they can lead to new images with new meanings. The work in this show is a found-grid pattern that transforms any images that come ‘in contact’ with it into a potential reproduction. Shadow or mirror images of the viewer or of the surroundings become detached from their ‘original’.
