On a deserted island in Greece a group of tourists is decimated by a monster that eats cadavers. The monster has an original way of finishing his victims and spares no one.The aficionados regard Antropophagus as one of the best Italian gore films of all time. The action is very distantly inspired by Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie. No effect is shunned, from the mutilation of a pregnant woman to the killer auto-cannibalism. As could be read in the newspapers at the time, it was a film that made your stomach contents do an about turn. Luigi Montefiori, also co-writer, plays the bloodthirsty monster under his usual pseudonym George Eastman. Saverio Vallone is the son of Raf Vallone, the unforgettable actor in the neo-realistic masterpiece Riso amaro.
