Generation X gay comedy from the Mid-West. Mark is a sero-positive artist obsessed by the idea of making a cathedral to honour his father. Joey, his boyfriend, is a refuse collector who takes home favourite items of trash to console himself while he searches for his real parents. Their lives are very much live anyone else’s: they flirt with others, complain about lots of things and enjoy the company of their gossiping friends. Débutant Eric Mueller keeps his present-day story light-hearted with several delicate acting achievements and an eye for the landscape of Minneapolis. While several serious subjects are hiding behind the pictures, Mueller primarily concentrates on the dramatic developments. is reminiscent of Richard Glatzer’s Grief, but with less laughing out loud, more locations and a real feeling for the eccentricities of daily life. has two qualities often absent from gay films these days: modesty and charm.
