is the story of an unusual journey. Isaac, his friend Moshe and Moshe’s wife Genovefa travel by boat from New York to Poland. They end up in Germany, celebrate Christmas in Berlin and eventually reach their final destination. Isaac finds his future wife and Genovefa finds an apartment. In the end everyone is happy, if only briefly. One couple ends in Gdansk, the other in Brighton. Schütte relates the story of the three people and their tragi-comic with great Odyssey with great tenderness. Used to setbacks in life, they still find the strength to complete their journey. Life in is like Moshe’s coat: boring and worn out on one side, bright red on the other.
