Part six is set on one day which was to go down in history as the day when JFK was murdered. Protagonist in Kennedy's Children is Alex, the eternal student type. At first only minor details have any importance, such as cutting down a cherry tree in Mrs Cerphal's garden. Hermann refuses to play along with Helga's whims and Clarissa puts forward two boyfriends as candidate fathers for the child she is expecting. The film-makers in the group of friends face a crisis in production and Hermann meets Waltraud Schneider, known as Schnüschen, a disarming and naive beauty from his home village. She works as a guide in Munich and is an outsider in student circles. Despite or maybe because of that, Hermann falls for her.The death of the president brings about a chain of events which even prevents the suicide of Helga.
