Film + Talk: The Brutalist + Robby Müller Award: Lol Crawley

British cinematographer Lol Crawley is the recipient of the sixth Robby Müller Award, an annual prize, in collaboration with the Netherlands Society of Cinematographers (NSC) and Andrea Müller-Schirmer, the wife of the late Robby Müller. The award pays homage to contemporary artists working behind the lens who, in the spirit of the celebrated Dutch cinematographer, have created a striking visual language throughout their work.

During the Talk, moderated by writer and film critic Peter Bradshaw, Crawley will discuss his cinematographic approach, his inspirations and some of the work from his extensive oeuvre.

Charting the life of a Hungarian architect following his arrival in the US at the end of the Second World War, Brady Corbet’s magisterial drama The Brutalist, explores the stultifying impact of collective trauma, the transformative quality of artistic endeavour and the corrosive nature of unbridled capitalism.
