After a retrospective in 2018, the ‘anarchist’ Argentine filmmaker José Celestino Campusano is back this year at full power, with his latest feature film Hombres de piel dura and this new virtual-reality project. “I note that this new form amplifies all the choices I always already made in my films”, Campusano said last year about his VR debut Brooklyn Experience, and that is most certainly visible in this sequel.

While Campusano made his first VR work far from home, for La secta del gatillo (based on the non-fiction book by investigative journalist Ricardo Ragendorfer) he points his 360-degree camera at the suburbs of Buenos Aires, where almost all his earlier films were set. His story takes us into the shadowy world of a corrupt legal system and a very bent cop who is trying to clear up the mess he made in his work and life now he knows he is incurably ill.
