Tsuruta Norio
TSURUTA Norio (1960, ) is a Japanese filmmaker. Known for his unsettling atmospheres and slow-burning dread, Tsuruta is a director who specialises in psychological tension rather than jump scares. His work often lingers in the grey area between reality and hallucination, the known and the unknown. This is something deeply rooted in Japanese horror tradition, but with his own psychological flair. His film Scary True Stories: Second Night (1992) was selected for the focus programme V-Cinema at IFFR 2026.
