Soi Cheang

Soi CHEANG (1972, Macau) is a Macau-born Hong Kong filmmaker known for his contribution to action crime films. His films have made a regular appearance at several international film festivals, including Venice, Berlin and Cannes. Besides directing action crime films, Cheang also directed The Monkey King (2014-2018) trilogy, of which he also produced the latter. His other works, Paradox (2017) and I’m Livin’ It (2019), earned him two Best Film nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards. His newest work, a neo-noir martial arts crime action film, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In (2024), has made an appearance in the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival, as well as the 23rd New York Asian Film Festival, as the festival’s closing film.
