Seemab Gul

Seemab GUL is an independent British-Pakistani filmmaker, producer and writer whose interdisciplinary practice engages with contemporary political realities and outsider perspectives. Working across fiction and documentary, her films often explore displacement, power and resilience. She directed, wrote and produced the short fiction film Sandstorm (2021), which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and screened widely internationally, and directed the documentary Zahida (2018). Her debut feature Ghost School (2025) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Gul has taken part in development programmes including Locarno Open Doors, Berlinale Talents and Venice Biennale College Cinema, and founded the Pakistan-based production company Cinelava.
