Prashanth Kamalakanthan

Prashanth KAMALAKANTHAN (India) is an Indian-American filmmaker and educator, whose background is in music, documentary and photography. He was born in Tirupati in India, and raised in North Carolina. He studied in the NYU Graduate Film programme, and has made films for The New York Times, Mother Jones and The Nation, among others. His short film A Hand (2018) won Best Short Comedy at New Hampshire Film Festival. Kamalakanthan currently teaches film theory and screenwriting at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Brown University. He co-directed New Strains (IFFR 2023) with Artemis Shaw.
