Panida Petchara

Panida PETCHARA is a Thai photographer and audiovisual artist living and working between Bangkok and Rotterdam. She is fascinated by everyday objects and their potential for reinterpretation, believing that small items can reflect larger and more significant issues. Her work playfully explores themes of superstition, capitalism and socio-political dynamics, transforming ordinary objects into uncanny and subversive narratives. Panida’s curiosity about the art world led her on a journey from Bangkok, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Design and worked in the media industry, to Rotterdam, where she pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Lens-Based Media at the Piet Zwart Institute. Her daydreams of a better life and her experiences with migration have profoundly influenced her work. She reflects on concepts of displacement, identity, cultural complexity, the interplay between personal and collective consciousness and dreams. Her short film Dream Weaver 555 (2025), which has its world premiere at IFFR, provides insightful commentary on Thai society through a satirical lens.
