Mohamed Rashad

Filmmaker, writer and producer Mohamed RASHAD from Egypt followed a two-year workshop in filmmaking in 2003, after which he wrote and directed two short fiction films, From Afar (2005) and Maxim (2007). Then he worked as an assistant director for a large number of films, the most important being Coming Forth by Day, directed by Hala Lotfy. With Hala and several other filmmakers he founded Hassala Films, an independent production company that focuses on long debut projects (fiction and documentary) by talented young artists. In 2016, he finished his first feature documentary, Little Eagles, which had its premiere in Dubai International Film Festival’s Official Selection. His first credit as a producer was on the feature documentary The Profession (2019) directed by Ramez Youssef. Rashad also participated in a number of script development and editing workshops, including the DOCmed workshop and the Documentary Campus Workshop. Rashad has received support from the Hubert Bals Fund Script and Development initiative. Rashad has received support from the Hubert Bals Fund Script and Development initiative. The Settlement (2025) premiering at Berlinale, marks his debut fiction feature film. The project was selected by CineMart in 2021 and later received Hubert Bals Fund support in 2022.
