Malga Kubiak

Malga KUBIAK (1950, Poland) is an avant-garde filmmaker, writer and artist. After studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she moved abroad, living in London, Copenhagen’s Christiania, Sweden and the United States. She studied performance under Yoshio Nakajima and later attended Valand Konstskola and the Video School in Sweden. Since 1984, she has created more than forty films, often provocative and censored, exploring queer and underground icons. Her works have screened at Anthology Film Archives and independent venues internationally. In 2015, she received the Polar Bear Award from the Scandinavian LGBTQ organisation Tupilak, and her films PPPasolini (2015) and PPPasolini Epilog (2015) won the Audience Award at the Warsaw LGBT Film Festival.
