Jana Stallein

Jana STALLEIN (1994, Germany) is a filmmaker and film editor currently completing a master’s degree in documentary directing at the Konrad Wolf Film University in Babelsberg. Her short documentary films explore socially critical subjects, including stories around gender, sexuality and migration. Works such as Mom Undressed (2018), Pure Fiction (2019) and Shapes of Lesbos (2021) have established her interest in intimate, character-driven non-fiction. She is finishing her first feature-length documentary Where the Waves Took Her (2025), produced in collaboration with rbb, alongside the VR experience After the Game (2025), with both projects supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. As an editor, Stallein has contributed to numerous short and feature films, including the Grimme Award-winning web series Haus Kummerveldt (2023).
