Irene Gutiérrez
Irene GUTIÉRREZ from Spain studied Audiovisual Arts and Multimedia at the University of Seville and Documentary Filmmaking at the EICTV in Cuba. She has received fellowships from Sundance, Tribeca and the Spanish General Consulate in New York. For her film Hotel Nueva Isla (2014), which premiered at IFFR, she won special jury awards at Jeonju International Film Festival, New Orleans International Film Festival, and Austin Las Americas Film Festival. Born in the Spanish exclave Ceuta, her films “link the intimate portrait with the landscape as an expression of the political tensions between individuals and nations”.
