Hsiang-Hsiung Liao
LIAO Hsiang-Hsiung (1933–2022, Taiwan) was a veteran Taiwanese filmmaker whose influence extended across film production, cultural policy and the development of Taiwan’s cinema industry. As Director of the Government Information Office’s Department of Motion Pictures, he introduced reforms that reduced censorship and established new subsidy schemes, contributing to the growing international recognition of the Golden Horse Awards.
