Gerald Potterton

Gerald POTTERTON (1931–2022, UK) was a director, animator, producer and writer. After studying at Hammersmith Art School in London, he moved to Canada in 1954 and began working at the National Film Board of Canada, where he developed his distinctive approach to animated storytelling. He gained early recognition for his short films, earning multiple awards and several Academy Award nominations, including My Financial Career (1962) and Christmas Cracker (1963). Potterton is best known for directing the cult animated feature Heavy Metal (1981) and for contributing animation to the landmark film Yellow Submarine (1969).
